Insects are undoubtedly the most successful class of animals. Still most people don’t know a lot about insects and they are usually considered a nuisance. Given the alarming decline in insect populations in Europe, it is high time we paid more attention to our small neighbors. Although identifying species is often difficult or even impossible, I to present many of the insect species that can be found in our region on the following pages.
