      Naxos is an island with a rich nature, inviting you to explore it on wonderful hikes and excursions. The geology of the island is very diverse with steep marble peaks, gentle valleys in the regions with schist, and remote, lonely valleys in the granite areas. The most beautiful and varied biotopes often belong to the old cultural landscape with terraces, olive groves and old overgrown orchards. The island’s flora consists of around 1000 plant species. The rich fauna includes numerous bird and reptile species and countless insects. There is so much to discover, from the seashore to the island’s springs and rivers, from the lush woodland to the remote, barren hillsides!
