Die Vegetation reicht von feuchten Auw\u00e4ldern \u00fcber Macchie und Zwergstrauchgesellschaften zu kargen Magerrasen. Viele der sch\u00f6nsten und abwechslungsreichsten Biotope der Insel finden sich in der alten Kulturlandschaft mit verwildernden Weinterrassen, uralten \u00d6lbaumhainen und aufgegebenen Getreidefeldern mit vielen Ackerwildkr\u00e4utern. Die Flora der Insel umfasst \u00fcber 1000 Pflanzenarten; dazu kommt eine reiche Fauna mit zahlreichen Vogel- und Reptilienarten und unz\u00e4hligen Insekten.
