Auf Naxos k\u00f6nnte das vielleicht sogar stimmen: Allein die byzantinischen Kirchen sind \u00fcber 175 an der Zahl. Und es ist nicht nur die Menge, die bemerkenswert ist: Viele der Kirchen weisen mehr oder weniger gut erhaltene byzantinische Wandmalereien auf, darunter einige mit sehr seltenen Darstellungen. Naxos beherbergt in seinen Kirchen einen nicht nur im griechischen Raum, sondern im ganzen Balkan fast einzigartigen Schatz an byzantinischer Kirchenkunst.<\/p>\n<p>Leider ist trotz gro\u00dfer Anstrengungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten durch die zust\u00e4ndigen Stellen bislang nur ein kleiner Anteil der Kirchen und Wandmalereien restauriert und somit vor dem Verfall bewahrt worden. Au\u00dferdem sind nur wenige der Kirchen f\u00fcr Besucher zug\u00e4nglich; die meisten Kirchen sind verschlossen (wof\u00fcr wir Verst\u00e4ndnis haben sollten).<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr alle Interessierten versuche ich hier, die Kirchen und Kl\u00f6ster der Insel vorzustellen, die ich bislang besucht habe, insbesondere in Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass auch von diesen einige inzwischen abgeschlossen sind, w\u00e4hrend manche ziemlich schwer zu erreichen sind. Im Lauf der Zeit werden hoffentlich noch mehr Kirchen dazu kommen.<\/p>\n<p>Im ersten Abschnitt (&#8222;Kirchenbauten&#8220;) sind die Kirchen (mehr oder weniger) danach sortiert, aus welcher Zeit der Kirchenbau stammt, im zweiten Abschnitt (&#8222;Wandmalereien&#8220;) tauchen nur die Kirchen mit nennenswerten Wandmalereien auf, wieder danach sortiert, aus welcher Zeit diese stammen.<\/p>\n<p>Ganz unten auf der Seite befindet sich eine Liste mit allen Beitr\u00e4gen.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>I. Und es ist nicht nur die Menge, die bemerkenswert ist: Viele der Kirchen weisen mehr oder weniger gut erhaltene byzantinische Wandmalereien auf, darunter einige mit sehr seltenen Darstellungen. Naxos beherbergt in seinen Kirchen einen nicht nur im griechischen Raum, sondern im ganzen Balkan fast einzigartigen Schatz an byzantinischer Kirchenkunst.\\n\n\n<p><\\\/p>\\nLeider ist trotz gro\\u00dfer Anstrengungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten durch die zust\\u00e4ndigen Stellen bislang nur ein kleiner Anteil der Kirchen und Wandmalereien restauriert und somit vor dem Verfall bewahrt worden. Au\\u00dferdem sind nur wenige der Kirchen f\\u00fcr Besucher zug\\u00e4nglich; die meisten Kirchen sind verschlossen (wof\\u00fcr wir Verst\\u00e4ndnis haben sollten).\\n\n\n<p><\\\/p>\\nF\\u00fcr alle Interessierten versuche ich hier, die Kirchen und Kl\\u00f6ster der Insel vorzustellen, die ich bislang besucht habe, insbesondere in Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass auch von diesen einige inzwischen abgeschlossen sind, w\\u00e4hrend manche ziemlich schwer zu erreichen sind. Im Lauf der Zeit werden hoffentlich noch mehr Kirchen dazu kommen.\\n\n\n<p><\\\/p>\\nIm ersten Abschnitt (\\\"Kirchenbauten\\\") sind die Kirchen (mehr oder weniger) danach sortiert, aus welcher Zeit der Kirchenbau stammt, im zweiten Abschnitt (\\\"Wandmalereien\\\") tauchen nur die Kirchen mit nennenswerten Wandmalereien auf, wieder danach sortiert, aus welcher Zeit diese stammen.\\n\n\n<p><\\\/p>\\nGanz unten auf der Seite befindet sich eine Liste mit allen Beitr\\u00e4gen.\",\"content_en_gb\":\"Many Greek islands boast that there are 356 churches on the island, one for every day of the year. On Naxos, that might even be true: The Byzantine churches alone are over 175 in number. And it is not just the number that is remarkable: many of the churches display often rare Byzantine wall paintings from all phases of the Middle Ages, an almost unique accumulation of important Byzantine monuments not only in Greece, but in the entire Balkans.\\n\n\n<p><\\\/p>\\nUnfortunately, despite great efforts by the responsible authorities in recent decades, only a small proportion of the churches and murals have been restored and thus saved from decay.
